We skimmed a number of topics surrounding World War II. If you had the opportunity to study one element of this war more thoroughly, what would it be? Explain why your interest takes you there...
if i had the chance to study more of a subject through ww2, it would be to study what the war was like for the soldiers and their view. I think it would be interesting to see what it was like through their eyes and to hear their experiences, i think it would provide a lot of information and sympathy for the troops. -Landon
personally i would want to look into how family's delt with hiding Jewish people or outcasts of the war in Hitlers eyes and how they were kept secret for so long. I find this topic very interseting because everyone has a different story or veiw and not all sides are shown and details are left out so it gives a sense of mystery that i find interesting. -Piper
I would like to learn more about the scientist and the civilians, how they survived and I would like to know from their perspective. The perspective from both the Nazi party person and the Jews. How people felt during those times, reading more about them and that topic would be very interesting. Just the psychology of people, we are made the same and we are all human. But the perspective from different people from World War II would be interesting. Amy Kim
Given the opportunity to further study one element of the war I would like to look at the battles in the pacific more specifically. I have learned a fair deal about the European conflicts and battles, for this reason I would like to further study different areas of conflict more thoroughly.
If I could learn something about WW2 in depth, I'd like to learn more about the camps run by the Nazi party. I find it interestingly horrifying many of things that occurred there and more researched look into the conditions and the people who worked there would have been fascinating! - Nathan Schmidt
i think it would have been interesting to look at the research projects going on at the time. everyone was trying to make the magic bullet that would end the war so it would be interesting to see what they came up with and they where willing to do and how they planed to do it to see both what they where trying to make and how they where trying to make it -Braden
I would choose to learn more about the individual lives of the soldiers who fought during this war. I understand how tasking it would be to learn everyone's story but after learning so much about war and the huge number of lives lost, you begin to forget that these soldiers had a life outside the war. It's hard to believe that anyone would give up their life to 'maybe' win a better one for the civilians at home but millions of men and women did. Documentaries surrounding war that explore more in depth the life of a regular soldier, their childhood, and their life after war I believe are a very important tribute to those who gave their lives for us. They risked or gave up the chance of marrying a gal, raising sons and daughters and growing old together and it's very humbling to know there's people out there so courageous. I would like to remember their stories and respect what they were fighting for. Abby Ellis
If I were to study a specific topic that we covered, I do believe I would look more into depth about the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, but more importantly, the Manhattan Project. I would like to know how they did it, where they did it, and how it was kept so under cover. I would also like to look more into the neutral countries. How they reacted to the war, what they did during it.
I would like to learn more about the invasion of Russia and Russia's part in the world wars in general. This is because it seems like Russia got backstabbed a lot in the world wars and I want to know if there's a reason why or if it was just for fun. I really like to learn about the betrayals and drama in history because it's like a soap opera which makes it more fun for me. I also haven't heard a lot about Russia in the world wars until now which means that most of the information is still new to me and more interesting.-Zaylee
The topic i would choose to study more about would be concentration camps, not only the Nazi's but around the world how they treated each prisoners. It honestly is hard to believe some of the things i have learned happened and even harder to believe that some people came out of that alive. It puts a feeling of fear in you thinking about how one human can treat another being in such a gut wrenching terrible sort of way. I want to know who was involved, what jobs they had to work, the conditions they had to live in. I think a lot about if i were put into that situation and how truly unbearable it is, I'm also no expert and knowing my thoughts and feeling about what i have seen and learned even though I've just skimmed the surface and how many darker things are hiding beneath, i would like to learn much more. I would probably look into Italy's involvement during the war because we learned a lot about Germany so I think it would be interesting to see what Germany's Ally contributed to helping them in their conquest. I would also like to learn more about what kind of person people saw Mussolini as. Did they seem him as a charismatic nice guy at first like Hitler or did they see him as a stern and serious man like Stalin? -Eric
we may not have covered much about them but it would be a topic id be really interested in learning more about and that would be the First nations involvement in the war and what it was like for them. Were they equals or still treated as less? did they get the treatment they deserved? how many served and how many passed? was in mandatory or volunteer. -seth
I would like to know more about Italy during WW2 and the war in Africa. It was very different than the war in other parts of Europe for a few different reasons and Italian politics are always fun. Also Australians fought on that side of the continent so family members on my Australian side fought there. -Emk
