We’ve been looking at what life was like at the beginnng of the 20th century...what do you think are 2 of the biggest changes that society has seen since then?
The two biggest changes that society has the medical technology that has been developed. The population has more than doubles in the last 100 years than the entire human years. Similarly, technology has advanced where we can communicate with another person across the globe in 1 second. I can facetime my dad in 3 seconds for free and see each others faces. Communication became more efficient and faster. Amy Kim.
Society has changed in many ways since the beginning of the 20th century, one of the most prominent being the change in technology. The extreme advancements have brought us vehicles, cell phones and ways to travel globally. The divisions of power and choice have created significant change, one such example being the right of women to vote.
The two major changes that occurred throughout the twentieth century, would be technology and the life expectancy. With technology at the beginning of the twentieth century, humanity had just began to use the car system with the invention of the motorized vehicle. With life expectancy, it went from living to the age of 47, maybe higher, to the now, where people are living to the age of 81 or higher, with people living to the ages of 100 or more. - Rylee
a lot has changed in a hundred years, but a couple of main things they heavily impacted society was the change from books to the internet, and a change in transportation. the internet has evolved into something so large it takes over everything, it allows you to research anything and communicate to people all over the globe. a change in transportation allows us to fly in the sky and travel across water(or under) at remarkable speeds that would of been thought impossible, never mind the fact that we now the technology to travel to space making the idea of galactic colonization possible. -Landon Nelson
I think the biggest changes from the beginning of the 20th century to now is transportation and communication. This speeds up everything in the world from transporting resources, textiles, goods and other commodities. as well as communication internationally between government officials, corporate share holders, scientific research and other important information instantly on the internet. These are 2 big changes the reduce weeks of wait time for the whole modern world. This leads to faster research and faster importing and exporting and all around easier lives. -Seth
Political reforms and improvements/changes in human rights. Advancements in flight, vehicles, weapons and technology that has improved the standard of living. - EmK
1) communication has evolved greatly since the 1900's mostly with use of cell phones, what might have taken hours or days can now get to someone in seconds.
2) Transportation also has been greatly improved with the use of cars. Cars were originally only used by the rich and its now being used by most people in modern society.
A big thing that had occurred in the 20th century that also changed many lives was the right for women to vote. given this opportunity it brings communities together and even though there was still signs of sexism it was a start. Technologies advancements over the years pushed limits some people didn't think were possible producing faster more efficient vehicles and transportation to the creation of the telephone also enhancing our communication by 10s - piper
The two biggest changes that have happened since the 20th century in my opinion are all the transportation and communication advancements that were made that as well as how much technology as a whole progressed throughout those years. -Eric
I believe that the two biggest changes that society has seen since then are the rights for all people and technology. In the beginning of the twentieth century the only people who had rights and could vote were white male land owners. Since then women and people of various ethnicities have gained the right to vote and many other rights. This has made our current society more fair and more representative of the population. Technology has improved by leaps and bounds. We started the twentieth century with planes that carried at most two people and couldn't fly across channels and primitive telephones that were only for the rich. Since then planes have evolved to be able to carry hundreds of people and fly all around the world. Almost everyone has pocket-sized phones that double as computers. The world is more connected and has more representation of the various populations thanks to the development of technology.-Zaylee
The biggest changes that happened during the 20th century that sculpted the world we know today would be the globalization and improvement upon transportation and communication which aided in the expansion of the railway and helped with trade. As well, the standard of living/ fighting for rights changed society as people expected more out of life; the life expectancy rose and the quality and expectations of home and food rose dramatically to bring us to the place we are today. Universal suffrage/ fighting for rights and the globalization of transportation and communication allowed our nations to begin industrializing and improving the lives for most of the people withing these countries.
