Tragedies of War

WWII was characterized by the many civilian and military casualties.  The specific tragedies we have studied include:  the Soviet Prisoners of War, the Katyn Forest Massacre, the Allied Bombings of Dresden, the Allied Prisoners in Asia, the Canadian Defence of Hong Kong, the Atomic Bombings of Hiroshima & Nagasaki, and of course, the Holocaust.

What lessons have been learned from these tragedies?  You can look at the tragedies in general or at a specific one.  Do you believe society still remembers these lessons?

  1. We have learned that you can't take these things for granted and you have to read the signs. With the holocaust I think everyone learned that when you see someone like Hitler rise to power you have to stop him before its too late.

  2. lessons that we learned are to watch and read who we let in to power and that things would go south like when Hitler came into power and wiped out the Jews people will remember the Holocaust for a life time and learn about it.

  3. We learned that we can't let someone push us around. We have to stand up to them before they do to much damage. Hitler rose to power and everyone was afraid to stand up to him, so it resulted in him killing millions of Jews.

  5. I think society will always remember about these important events. People have learned less ions from theses serious events and I'm pretty sure people won't let any of this happen again.

we learned that you have to stand up for yourself before letting someone push you down. Hitler always got his way because all of the people scared to come togerher to go against him.
