Cold War

The Cold War was "a period after the Second World War until 1990 when increasing diplomatic tension between the United States and the Soviet Union created constant threat of war."  Wars happened during this time frame, but can we actually say the Cold War was a "WAR"?  Explain.

  1. I don't think it was actually a war between us and ussr because there was actually no open war between the two. They just didn't trust each other so they threatened each other of war but no war actually happened.

  2. It was a sustained state of political and military tension between powers in the Western Bloc, dominated by the United States with NATO among its allies, and powers in the Eastern Bloc, dominated by the Soviet Union along with the Warsaw Pact.

  3. I think that the cold War was not actually a wa. The United States and soviet Union had more of an arms race just building up their militaries And threatening each other with nuclear weapons. There was only tension in the cold War and no actual fighting so therefore it was not an actual war.

  4. In my opinion, the Cold War wasn't really a "war." Since there was no use of harmful weapons or fighting, it was more a standoff between the US and Russia. A cold war involves politics, economics and propaganda not fighting.

  5. The cold was was not a war I think it was just a date in time. There was harmful fighting and unuseful weapons that were used and it was pointless.

well i agree with everyone else, that is wasnt a war; because no one had to fight, use weapons. It was more of a standoff with US and Russia.
