The Great Depression of the 1930s impacted the entire world...some countries were worse off than others. What kind of leadership does a country need to overcome some devastation?
I think a country needs totalitarian leader because although the democratic ones did bounce back from the depression it took a lot longer than the totalitarian ones.
A country needs a strong leader to follow and trust through such dramatic measures. It would take a lot of trust to the leader for the people to follow. The leader must supply them with their needs and bring them back to the way things use to be.
Totalitarianism can result in quick and decisive change while democratic government would be slower because of all the political obstacle one would need to get over as well as the public's permission.
They need a strong leader that can provide enough for the country and at the same time, still keep the country's economy running smoothly.
